I’m done with Exo so I can continue with this. The fantasy elements are….weird and there’s two different timelines: Devon in the past and Devon in the present. I’m not really into it, which is why I put it on hold for a few days, but I want to see how everything connects and comes together. So far reading this is like watching a movie after it’s been on for an hour.

This is going on hold for now. Exo is going to get my full undivided attention! So until I’m done reading that I won’t be reading word of this.

Eh, I don’t know about this. I don’t like the writing style and the MC’s narration. The fantasy elements seem fake, as if the author’s trying too hard to be different instead of just letting the story flow. Different or original doesn’t always mean good. It’s JUST interesting enough for me to be continue but I’ll be reading something else to balance things out. McKillip or Fonda Lee?

Just finished three chapters. I think this is going to be one of those books with a premise that sounds good on paper but is poorly executed. I read most of the synopsis on the back, but didn’t read that last sentence, though, which is the most important bit. So I was surprised to learn that Devon’s son Cai has a….very special predicament that causes her to hunt for victims. I’m interested but cautious.
