Malk, guy on ship, is mad that Kinch didn't go fight during the goblin war and got out of the summons. He wants a fight to the death and Kinch is about to agree when Galva takes his place. Someone else on the ship poisons her which prevents her from fighting. During Malk and Kinch's duel, the kraken comes back and takes down the ship. Few people escape and Kinch stabs the guy who poisoned Galva

Apprentice witch Norrigal joins the crew and they all decide to kill the minotaur that's been running around, killing people. Kinch finds out that Galva keeps her bird bound to her through a magic tattoo. They sell off the head of the minotaur and get a ship that'll take them to Molrova

Kinch gets arrested for knifing someone about to kill a cat and escapes jail. He meets back up with Galva, the cat joins him, and they start their journey to first meet a witch named Deadlegs. They get to the tower and decide Kinch isn't trustworthy yet so Deadlegs casts a spell to put him to sleep. Think she's just upper arms and a torso with fake legs

I need to go pick up daughters war. I really feel like I'm missing a lot of context, even if DW isn't considered a part of the blacktongue series

Kinch is a thief and owes a large debt to the guild. Has a tattoo on his face, making public his debt. His last group got pummeled by a "Spanth" lady and her war bird, so he's alone. The guild says he needs to go travel with her somewhere? Giants are invading further out territories. Goblin war 20 (?) years ago killed most men, so women had to fight. Thrashers war? Might need to read Daughter's War
