How's this going?

The beginning lost me a bit, but I’m slowly starting to follow what’s happening. I didn’t really understand the Heaven or vampire concepts at first, and I’m still trying to figure out how advanced the technology is in this world. It feels like the book throws you straight into the deep end and expects you to catch up as you go.
