It’s taken me 4 days to get through the first chapter of this book.
The opening sentence alone made me put it down a number of times, quickly followed by how often “said” is used after dialogue. I know it’s a common writing style, but 14 times in one chapter—that’s just 6 pages btw—is making it very hard not to already consider a DNF.
