The book is set in a post-war 2125. Tracing the fate of a single poem, its author and its muse, the protagonist grapples with what he can never know about a fuller, richer world long gone and the people that once inhabited it. The book touches upon various but what stood out for me was present times being discussed as if it were already history and the scrutiny of our poor choices as a race.
