It's such a pleasant surprise how emotionally charged the book can be. I wouldn't say the characters are incredibly intricate on their own, but the ideas they embody are so grand and oftentimes beautiful. Each chapter manages to go someplace cool.
Also, it feels like there's at least one point in CoT where it'd be absolutely appropriate for Answers to play

Very excited to see how Tchaikovsky will resolve this. Both humankind and the spiders' plotlines have been really, really intelligently and refreshingly written and I'm really looking forward to seeing how the series as a whole grows from here onward. If this book sticks the landing it's going to be a very, very easy 5/5 for me.

Last time I tried reading this book was during my great slump back in 2022 and I couldn't even get through the first 30 pages back then. Now I'm finally giving it another shot and I'm very pleasantly surprised by how much nicer of a time I'm having with it so far.
