I do like how each character’s backstory is getting fleshed out in vignettes. Also the author really doesn’t pull punches when killing side characters, which is in keeping with the whole tone.

After meaning to read this for ages, I finally started in on this on the way back from a vacation. So far it's a good medieval horror show / roadtrip, but there's plenty of book left.
