Don't know what to say right now? Weird, definitely pro-human regardless of gender, color, religion sentiment being expressed, but it's not written in the book via the characters actions? Not sure how to express it... Odd.

Interestingly enough, those pacifistic communities aren't shown here. Surely they would have been spared or figured out the truth earlier?

This book is definitely dated. I can't imagine any government, other than ones that already have a stranglehold on communication, being able to keep what was happening world-wide under wraps, even if it was this bad. Still amazed no one has prayed non-stop since the one guy prayed and got results... That's all I would be doing if it worked. Odd book.

I would like to think we aren't so God-less that we wouldn't know how to pray for forgiveness and confess our sins. I think if what happened in this book happened in real life, that there would be some fervent prayer power happening. Not everyone, but enough to show the world what needs to be done to advert calamity. Just saying.

Why don't they cut down and burn the toxic weeds? I'm confused.

Ok, treatment of women and the disabled aside, I do appreciate the truth of humanity treating each other horribly, with wars and violence and greed and hate in our hearts. And that it's a horrible thing. So slightly archaic outlook on some things, dead on with others. This is going to be one heck of a seesaw ride.

Can't let the little lady know I'm frightened. That will just make her fear worse. Gotta bottle it up, like a man! This is a good snapshot of what the thought process was in the 80s in America? If I look at it as a history lesson, maybe my blood won't boil so much? Glad I live where and when I do now. We have come a long way, good. We also have a long way to go.

Ummm...why can't the blind man walk to visit trees? His legs aren't broken. He's completely capable of walking with two sighted people to go visit an orchard! He's blind, not paralyzed! I am SO angry right now. Everyone is acting like he can't do a simple walk, EVEN HIM. No! Deep breath. Book published in 1980s... Less aware back then.... This better not be a running theme!

"We should have had snow by now, a lot of it... We should have had it in November and December." Kind of like now, only we got it in March. :/
