I did not remember learning about the rape of Jacob’s daughter and his son’s slaughter of the rapist’s kin despite agreeing to their terms of circumcising all of their men. They came killed them all while they were healing and in pain from being circumcised. It was all a ruse so they could easily avenge the dishonour of Dinah. The OT is nasty!

Oy vay… Leviticus is going to be a hard book to slog through. Lots of splashing of blood on the altar in the first four chapters.

Finished Exodus today. So weird to find that so much of this book are rules and specifications for how to worship and how to build the structures for worship. I always thought Exodus was about the flight of the Israelites from Egypt but that narrative only takes up about 1/2 the book.
