Oh dear... it seems Jafar holds all the cards. Nature breaking magic, Ahmed and Shirin... Will Jasmine and Aladdin's plan work? Also, we have a lot of book exclusive characters here...

Well, at least Genie is doing what he can. And Jasmine has a lot more in a couple of weeks than her father had ever done in the last few years or so. Looks like Amur is truly a good guy, and even the wealthier classes are hurt by Jafar's rule. Also, this notion of Jafar forcing his subjects to swear loyalty seems to have foreshadowed certain real world events...

So the brother and sister duo that Aladdin gave bread to earlier have names; Ahmed and Shirin, nephew and niece of Duban, children of Kazireh, grandchildren of Maruf. Neat. Glad to see Rajah is alright. And we finally learn what happened to Iago. Horrifying, but not surprising given this book's darker nature. Also, Aladdin and Jasmine are adorable in "Robber Queen".

Man, Jasmine and the Genie's conservation is really quite touching. Two lonely people, trapped in different ways. And Genie is the last of his kind after trying to save the rest of the Djinn? Man... I have no words. Still, at least Jasmine was able to escape, even if Rasoul died. On the off chance he is alive, he's going to be pissed.

Well the first act was slow, but things are finally picking up. And Aladdin is stuck in the Cave of Wonders. How does he get out this time? And will we ever get to learn the now ex-Sultan's name?

Hmm, a little slower than I would have liked but we're only about 50 pages into a 400 page book. And it is pretty amusing to see Aladdin's antics at the market as well as how oblivious he is to being in the presence of a princess. Jasmine is just as good as I remember her! But how long before the story really starts to change?

Alright Braswell, this is your chance to redeem yourself. So this prologue takes place... how many years before the main story? At least a few it seems, since Abu isn't in the picture yet. But how much importance will his friends Duban and Morgiana have? Or Akram or Rasoul? Or even Cassim, Aladdin's dad? Still, I like the clear description of the areas of Agrabah. Clear yet right to the point!
