What started as an interesting, alien POV became swiftly overburdened by the prose, which is somehow both archaic and anachronistic. Also why does a mermaid have such a broad and clinical understanding of human anatomy? I am an anatomist and could not define half the jargon narrator uses!!! Takes me out of the story every time
