I am going to sound ungrateful as I am holding on to a proof copy but I feel no connection towards the main character, Wilbur. And especially these few pages that Maggie is trying to make things right with him mom, his stepdad(the landlord). I cannot stand the way that she is speaking for him even if what she is doing is the “polite” and “right” thing to do.
