Hal Bregg has returned to Earth after, because of time dilation, 127 years. He was advised to spend time in some sort of rehabilitation facility — Adapt — but didn't and as a result spends the first chapter here completely lost and bewildered, isolated from his fellow man until a woman invites him back to her place. Here we learn about how man can no longer kill, and some sort of contraceptive drink called brit.
