How does any of this makes sense for a 17yr old. This sounds more like she’s getting ready to grad college not HS.

She could have easily be graduating from college at the age of 22 and the story still would have worked. Interning at dad’s firm the summer before grad, god father returning to the city after years of being away. It should have worked.
