March 1864: The Kilpatrick-Dahlgren Raid, Richmond, VA, was a failed attempt by Union General Judson Kiloatrick and Colonel Ulric Dahlgren to get into Richmond and free Union prisoners there.

Dahlgren was killed, and papers found on his body indicated another purpose of the raid was to burn the city and assassinate JeffersonDavis and his cabinet.
