The fantasy part of the story is a bit lacking. But then again this is a very early thought on this book.
The history part is where I have a lot of the problem. The setting feels generic Indian than Ullala in 1500s. I can understand finding it hard to research on Abbakka in general because a lot of the local sources about her are in Kannada and Tulu, but a lot of the basic historic errors which can be rectified....

calculoopy By a simple Google search. For starters
• Abbakka's predessor was Thirumala Raya not Trimulya
• New world crops are being mentioned in the story in a India that had barely any Portuguese influence.
• Hindi words are used instead of Kannada words(Kannada is preferable if you can't find the Tulu words)
• The book doesn't allude to the religion of the Chowtas(which is Jainism and not Hinduism) and the Bangas so every scene that involves the characters eating fish or meat is technically not true.
• A lot of the character names feels very modern and not 1500s coastal Karnataka. There's also a Tamil name in the book which is far away from coastal Karnataka.

I think this story would've been a bit better if the main character was not called Abbakka and the setting was not coastal Karnataka. Just make up a fictional place and characters.

It is an entertaining book I'll give credit to that. I'll continue the story regardless
