Interesting to learn that Kesey wrote this book after his time spent as a paid volunteer for the CIA's MKUltra experiments in Menlo Park. That experience partially inspired this book. It also led to his friendship with the Merry Pranksters. I'd like to do more digging into that group, they're very hippy-dippy vibes it seems.

Loud ass neighbors keeping me awake, so may as well read. Have to get up early as fuck tomorrow... but at least I'll have company over for dinner. Got to the part where Bromden and McMurphy chat in the night. It's very sweet. McMurphy is such a strong character.

I forgot how much I enjoy this book. It's a hard read at times, but the emotional investment into the characters makes it addicting. Bromden is such a good narrator for this.

Reading this for the third or fourth time. I couldn't stop thinking of Bromden after my last book, and thought that was an excellent opportunity to revisit this. Plus, it means I can watch the movie after!
