being pampered your whole life and then suddenly having to become an indentured servant for a decade oh i would've crashed tf out

old warrior woman feeling maternal over a bratty teenage boy ohhh i'm enjoying this! and the other storyline with the young woman refusing to be sacrificed (even though she swore she would) also seems interesting. i'm liking this book, so far!

Jian's had a ROUGH day bro 😭 first he learns he's not the chosen one and he wasted his life training for nothing, then he comes to the full realization of how poorly trained and overall useless he is, then his masters (who he's idolized his whole life) turn on him and try to murder him, then he manages to escape but he's been poisoned so he's dying anyway... 💀 give this boy some rest omfg 🕊️
