Escalation usually occurs for sexual violence offenders.
Even just consuming porn greatly increases chances of re-offending sexual violence crimes.
When men commit lower level sexual violence and get away with it, they feel emboldened to go a little further, then again, and again, sometimes culminating in rape and murder.

They make dolls specifically for raping (settings where they are “unappreciative” of touch)
And dolls of children. I can’t even write down the quotes they’re so horrifying. But e.g. some dolls made child-size, hairless, pictured next to teddy bears, described as ‘innocent’ ‘tight’ ‘cute’ ‘adorable’ ‘schoolgirl’ ‘there for the taking’.

Yet they try to portray it as a safe outlet??

Some argue that providing robots gives men an outlet for sex and violence without it having to be done to real women, but:
