Apparently, Literary Hub has worked out how many books I will manage to read before I die:
60 and female: 86 (26 years left)
Average reader: 312
Voracious reader: 1300
Super reader: 2080
I'm probably a super reader (80 books per year) according to their calculations. Average reader=12 books/year; voracious reader=50. Still, it's sobering to have it all laid out so coldly.

Wow! I've got 5 years on you...and I'm halfway between average and voracious!! Maybe 800 books? Time to prioritize...or read faster!

I say it's okay to start books and not finish them, something I've felt guilty about in the past.
Don't worry about the past or the future, just live in the moment, as the Buddha said.i. e. Enjoy what you are reading now!
The Buddha can be counted on for reading recommendations.
A history professor made the same comment to us in college. You'll only read 5000 books in your lifetime. Make them count.So I don't feel the need to finish books I don't like, or give them more than fifty pages to prove themselves.
