Why did Atwood make Telemachus such a brat?! I imagine this is how Penelope thinks her son is looking at her but I swear he loves her so much more than what Atwood is saying.

The suitors have started to push Penelope. When Odysseus left, Penelope picked up the pieces and started to make Ithaca thrive to show how capable she is. But the suitors have come in and ruined everything. They plot to kill Telemachus when he returns from his sailing mission. That part of the original odyssey makes me sad because I see Telemachus’s fear, optimism, and clumsiness in myself.

I’ve reached the part where Penelope is marrying Odysseus. I found it very romantic that, when they were supposed to bed infront of the royal collection, Odysseus closed the door and talked to her instead. About him and his scar. Both Penelope and Odysseus had attempts on their lives as children and relate to each other. I find that very romantic in its own right.
