It feels like Campbell was the Jordan Peterson of his time, seldom the identity politics and personal crisis. Campbell was more like the good bloke at the bar paying you a beer and telling you you're a good lad. There's some "Foucault's Pendulum" reasoning style to some of his interpretations at times, but can't deny the close similarities in the different historical origins of religions and myths.
