Yikes. I don’t mind the lack of social awareness or niceties. it’s the overwhelming confidence and self-assuredness that is tough.

I suppose the charm is that these things seem so socially obvious that people don’t even take the time to explain to Eleanor why she’s being peculiar, to put it mildly. Some of her interlocutors are quite rude though.
