Jen I really need to try an audio book, one of these days. I just don't normally because it's so much harder for me to pay attention to and process things via audio. I need the text in my face, so I can picture it in my head. I am curious though....!

Lola @Jen I'm the same - audio processing is harder and I need the visual. I just started getting into audiobooks but I've been sticking to books I've read before and I find it easier to pay attention to when I already know generally where things are going. I guess I'm hoping if I build up the listening skill it will be easier for me to try new material?

Cath, does it feel like the voice actors are on the same page with how everyone sounds? I listened to one recently where the actors were doing super different accents for characters and it was throwing me tf off.

I was also very hesitant and it took me a looong time before I finally decided to give audiobooks a shot 🙈 Tbh if it wasn’t for a free Audible trial, I probably would have never tried them. And just like you, I was worried about whether I’d actually be able to pay attention. But honestly if I’m not doing something that requires full focus, audiobooks are amazing and my imagination runs WILD 🤭🤭🤭🤣🤣🤣🤣

For example, when I’m at work and actively focusing on a task, I can either focus on the audiobook or my work, def not both at the same time. But when I’m doing house chores or going out for a walk, it’s PERFECT!!! I usually end up walking around smiling like a creep while the MCs are getting their guts rearranged in my ears because I just CANNOT keep a straight face 🙈🙈🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

So my best advice is to try the Audible trial and see how you like it! Also, make sure you pick a highly praised audiobook with great narrators, because not all narrators are good.... For example the first audiobook I tried was Heated Rivalry and honestly the narrator just did NOT do it for me. But For the Fans has SUCH FUCKING GOOD narrators, so I highly highly HIGHLY recommend that one 💗💗💗💗

Yes, I’m also just getting into audiobooks, this is only my second one so far! And I’m doing the exact same thing as you…. listening to books I’ve already read first HAHAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣 I honestly do think it makes them easier to follow, but I also think a lot of it is just getting used to the format over time 💗💗

Since English is my second language, I still sometimes have little moments where I don’t fully catch what the narrator says, but I think it still helps me a lot with my listening skills and eventually I’ll get more used to it sooner or later!

As for the narrators, I think it REAAAALLY depends on the audiobook. Some narrators change their voices for different characters and some don’t. It’s kinda the same in For the Fans.

Avi’s narrator changes his voice a bit when he’s voicing female characters (he makes it slightly higher pitched 🙄 NOT a fan tbf) and he also deepens his voice a little for Kyran (when it’s a chapter with Avi’s POV). But Kyran’s narrator reads everything in pretty much the same voice regardless of the character and I JUST LOVEEEEE his voice so much!! It sounds so slutty....🙈🙈🥰🥰🥰🥰

Jen Yeah, if I try an audiobook, it would definitely be one I've already read. For the Fans would certainly be a contender. Thanks for the input though! =D
