The book is almost done and I still don't know what Fern wants. I don't think this is a strong enough character arc for an entire novel. A secondary plot perhaps but this is too much. What does she want? She's been going around in circles for the entire novel.

Unfortunately, Fern isn't as strong a main character as Viv. The way she got into this adventure really feels like a slap to her and I appreciate how much she agonizes over it. However, I do love the other characters introduced, even though they feel sort of shoehorned in.
