Upon reaching Part II, "The Liberty" (p. 77), I found the narrative increasingly difficult to follow, ultimately skipping from page 85 directly to Part 3. While Part II intends to build William Swallow's character by exploring a romantic interlude with his wife, Susannah, the character arc unfortunately becomes buried under superficial romance and melodrama.

The convicts have finally taken control of the ship. Swallow has been blasting orders to secure the navigation tools as he wanting to prevent the "debacle" of the Seaflower from happening again.
