Off toward the gift shop, I spy two law professors from the symposium, members of the paler nation, looking rather lost in flannels and tweeds as they watch the dark conclave with apprehensive eyes. They wave to me as though relieved to come across a friendly face in a lobby that suddenly resembles the Essence fashion show, and I smile back but decide not to go over to join them for the usual evening ......

According to Justice Wainwright that justice did not rule in cases based on money or friendship. The Judges integrity is next to his own. Someone starts to follow Talcott after he leaves the Judges office. It is the roller woman. The woman of mystery.

Mariah still believes someone killed the judge and is going thru the judges attic to find clues. Her husband is worried about her.

Where should I begin so much has happened. Talcott is in Washington DC talking to a liberal associate Supreme Court justice Wallace Warrenton Wainwright who was a friend to the Judge, Tal's father. Tal is attempting to get more information about his father's relationship with Jack Zeigler. Also, he wants to find out if his father was a corrupt justice that ruled in cases based on money or friendship.
