I can definitely see why I’m cringing at certain moments now — the book was originally published in 2018! The paperback edition I have is newer and came out March 2026, so I realize now it's not a recent release

I have to back Dean up because why is Kate trying so hard with Miles after he already rejected her once? Embarrassinggg. And on top of that, she’s running with this little white lie that she goes by Mercedes. Even if it seems minor, I can’t imagine he’d react well if he found out, especially with how he keeps saying things like, “This is different from other girls, I’ve never been like this before"

Took a little break from reading, but I’m back at it and hoping to finish it in the next day or two!

Reading Miles’s POV is a little cringey to me. I can’t realistically picture a man thinking or talking like this internally. The way he describes Kate gives off “quirky girl” energy, which I’m personally not connecting with. The scene where he’s observing her writing process - it felt a little overdone for me. If I worked the front desk and saw her acting like that every day, I probably wouldn’t let her come back

“She looks so f*cking cute, I think I might be in love.” — Miles
Don’t get me wrong, I’m breezing through this book so far, but lines like this feel a little cringey to me — especially this early on in the story. I had to comment on it because it’s been bothering me a bit while reading 😂
