This one simply does not stand up to the first. It's a huge change in form—the series should be called Rogue Squadron, with the first entry called X-Wing, or something. No pew pew flying sequences, except for the first chapter. On top of that, this one is pretty disjointed and chunky. There are a few superfluous characters who just confuse the factions, stuff like that. And I don't have the audiobook to lean on...

Book two is pretty different from book one. More intrigue, far less flying. Apparently Stackpole got tired of trying to describe dogfights in space? Can’t blame him. I will also say, this one is certainly more of a kissing book.
