The clunkiest parts of the book isn't the prose, multiple character POVs, the time jumps, or even the Earth vs Trisolaris interludes -- it's all of them together in a way that just doesn't flow.

A friend who's a photography nut pointed out a factual error: there was no Leica M2 in 1988. M2 came out in 1957. 1988 brought us the anniversary edition of the M6. This wouldn't be such a big deal if the author didn't make such a fuss about the model of the camera in the story itself.

A daughter watches her mother and a mob of classmates murder her father in a socially sanctioned tableau, then discover a close friend had committed suicide at home. Well, that was dark. But there is nothing romantic about revolution.
