Read very little tonight but learned what was inside the barn. Vera gets some much needed inspiration and determination from Michael Jackson's "Beat It". AB nearly won the " I'm gonna make ya puke battle" with his vivid descriptive prose of an unimaginable series of assaults on Vera by The Slob . Plan to finish this often referenced novel of Beauregard's tomorrow night.

At 60% our mercilessly beaten and disfigured protagonist Vera meets the brave and mutilated female victim confined with her. The skillful writing of AB effectively brings his characters, the environment, and the extreme horror into vivid technicolor in our mind's eye. "You are there" which is every writer's goal. This was an emotionally rewarding segment in that I
admired their lust for life and courage to fight.

This selection from AB has been a WTR for a long time. The good hearted female protagonist is not only very likeable but admirable in so many ways. I stopped reading at the point in the storyline when she has driven farther out into the country to score a final sale...and meets The Slob . The writing is gripping and propels the reader forward effortlessly. The backstory endears us. She has walked into hell...
