These past 15% have been a slog

disappointing that all of the sudden i'm not feeling this at all. I love the series so much, yet this installation is very much meh. Had some good parts, but also some bad parts

wondering if I can finish this before the end of the month

I accidentally started book 3 instead of book 1 and now I realize that Moirin future husband is enemies-to-lovers

A bit underwhelming that I already know who the love interest is like that.

Will it be a Pheadre repeat? That was also an enemies to lovers

With the "my gift is desire" (btw, WHY? and HOW?) this Moirin reads at times too much like Phaedre. She's actually more interested in sex than Phaedre was even tho Phaedre was literally chosen by the sex goddess

I accidentally started reading the last book in the series (and read 35%), and I was distraught and thought I would not enjoy it if I started the correct (this) book right away.

I actually do, the origins of Moirin were quite surprising and pleasing to read. It sucks that I already know who her friends will be (ppl she considers enemies now!) and who will die (a lot of people currently alive)

I'm still so sad about my mistake.

We meet a young lad courting Moiron, but I already know her husband in book 3 (9). We have yet to meet all of the important characters, but I already know some of them are dead

something VERY embarrassing to admit:

I had book 1 and 3 mislabeled on my ereader, so all this time I was reading book 3 instead of book 1.

I even said stuff like "Wow, this feels like a continuation to an already exciting life of Moirin, it's like she already did tons of amazing things before we saw her for the first time"

slow start so far but I'm not worried (yet) as Carey's previous two trilogies also started quite slow and then changed the direction drastically

this book feels like a sequel to a trilogy

And I don't mean it's a sequel to the Phaedre's 6-book series, it's a sequel to a very exciting past life of Moirin, a character who lives ~150ish years after Phaedre
