Baldwin is great at writing internal monologue for female characters. He reminds me of Hemingway.

I love how Tish gains new appreciation for other women once her family accepts and celebrates her pregnancy. It’s freaking wholesome! The first 50 pages give me the feeling of chilling in a cozy NY apartment while the family goes about their business.
