There’s something so sad about this particular chapter: 49. It’s a series of POVs, starting with Tobias, trying to distract Attie’s siblings from the bombs, to Forest and Sarah, outside and alone, far away from shelter and unlikely survival. All this happened while Iris and Attie passed through a doorway to the realm below. It’s sort of like those flashes of images you get in movies before something bad happens, or when something is happening and they show each person’s POV, everyone suffering.
