you are on a trek, looking forward to great views. most of the trek involves jumping from one rock to another a few feet away, so much so that you feel like you are missing out on the great views, so after a few miles, you stop and look around and realise there is no view at all, and you have been pointlessly jumping from rock to rock risking fractures and whatnot for nothing. this is exactly how the book feels.
