Not particularly a fan of the tell don't show aspect of this. It's reading like one long list of things done on a journey rather than taking the reader on an emotional journey itself. It would be better in first person so we could feel what the MC was feeling first hand, as everything feels like a letter being written by someone who was vaguely told about the MC's quest from someone else.
