Tartt better stick the landing because, so far, this is one of the best modern books I've ever read. Sin, obsession, and desire are all explored in such interesting ways. I particularly love the theme that the worship of aesthetic beauty, when devoid of higher meaning, will lead to evil. This is the "thinking person's thriller," as Newsday says.

I have been wary of this book, as it has been popular on BookTok in the past. I run the other way if a book is popular on BookTok. But this has turned out to be one of the most lyrical and enrapturing novels I’ve read in a long time.
