Once again refuting on the theory that Nakata was Koumura's son. Instead the novel made a hint that the painting belongs to Kafka. The curse on Saeki was that she opened the entrance stone which made Kafka her lover at the same time her son. After the incident Nakata is like a vessel that allows him and only him to travel between two worlds.

Miss Saeki met Nakata and I have a theory that since Kamimura didn't exactly mention that Nakata WAS the boy in the painting, but the painting was one of Koumura's son and once they met they became more complete. I was thinking the opening of entrance stone didn't actually killed Saeki's lover but instead the curse was the impossibility of reunion.

So far, Kafka is getting charged by the police, he and Oshima returned to the woods. Oshima warned Kafka not to run to deep into the woods and established the idea of labyrinth. Concept of labyrinth was originated from ancient Mesopotamian where they pull out human and animal intestinal. In the book is a warning to Kafka that you're digging deeper to yourself but aware of getting lost into yourself.
