Slow going - first 40% of the book no real developments I’d say. Little nuggets dropped but all the conversations are SO CRYPTIC !! The FMC is hopelessly obsessed with the MMC who is the literal definition of a closed book. Shay is by far my favourite character yet and Kai deffo knows more than he’s letting on

The descriptive style of the book is absolutely poetic. The FMC is HOPELESSLY infatuated with her captor. She is keen to stay in her safely guarded bubble, traumatised of the world beyond due to the horrors that haunt her from the night of her families massacre. Her captor is a currently still a closed book - keeping his feelings and personality guarded from both the FMC and us the reader.

I’ve only read the prologue and I am instantly hooked. The language, the creatures the story ❤️ A secret daughter, an ancient prophecy and family necklace - I have never been so instantly captivated before even starting chapter 1
