He’s still got my face in his palms when the words burst free. “Marry me.”
His expression softens in shock, and my mouth goes dry in panic. “What?” he asks.
“Or not. I don’t know. I just-“
“You can’t take it back!” he says defensively. He starts pecking kisses all over my face. “Haven’t you ever proposed before?”

“If you won’t have me back anymore, then I’ll find you in the next life.”

“He’ll learn them. We did good. You did so good, baby,” he murmurs into my temple.

“Should we high-five or something?”
“Or something,” he replies, like it actually were a multiple choice question. He scoops me into a hug before I register that it’s happening, and I melt and press myself into it automatically.
