I read this a VERY long time ago. Found some of his positions... interesting.. agree with some takes, not so much with others. Comes across a bit biased, but overall it's still a good read.

I agree, he was certainly biased towards the Missouri position but since most books say how terrible the MO bushwackers were and leave out the depredations done by the Kansas side, it helped me to balance my view some. Plenty of evil done by both sides: Quantrill, Anderson, Lane, and Jennison.
