I've tried to read this book 4 times so far LOL does the story get more interesting after the first few chapters?

So I’m on chapter 15 and not much has happened 😭 I even forget he’s a duskwalker sometimes. But do I like it more than book 3? Absolutely. Because it’s definitely a slow burn instead of whatever was happening in that other book 😂😂
