i think the most enlightened thing i have taken from this book at all is that happiness is not an end destination but rather something that has to be found again and again, like evil must be defeated again and again

hmm cannot shake the feeling i am reading a cult book or a problematic book. i feel like spiritual masters just be saying anything and these people eat it up… also are they also taking drugs? perhaps the bit about loving yourself was good insight although it is not a new insight to me

only reading this book as to not dnf it and make progress in my reading journal. i likely picked it up to see if there was something to learn in its pages and although some of the spiritual stories are cool i would be lying if i said this book did not feel culty. idk if i could ever justify not being with my family after a death in the family to finish out a retreat or support someone who ask that i do that idk
