Significantly better than I remembered but god there are some questionable lines, namely about Dorcas. Gene Wolfe insists on describing her like a child every time she is described, even during intimacy. It’s gross.

The whole garden section felt like such filler until Dorcas arrived. The duel is about to start and while I’m sure Severian won’t lose, I have no idea what else will happen, or what Dorcas’s whole deal is.

Really good. I’d thought I’d be bored after Severian left the Guild but it’s still very interesting. I’ve also begun annotating the book with pen and pencil. I wish I had more time to read, and I definitely will after March, for I really enjoy this book.

Really great, the vocab is a slight bit higher level than my understanding is. The book is really sexist though. All the women are either prisoners or prostitutes so far. Maybe it has some purpose for the story. I don’t really care but it is very glaring.
