I feel bad for any New Yorker who needs help from the Feds. Per this book they are ALL either incompetent or traitors. Anyone who has watched 24, Criminal Minds, Law & Order or read Katie Reus' Red Stone Security series could solve the case faster than these folks.

He smirked, and it sent chills along my neck and shoulders. He had the most piercing green eyes I had ever seen. He took my hand then lifted it toward his lips. As he kissed it softly, his eyes remained locked on mine. “Very pleased to meet you, Gabriella. My name is Roman, but you can call me R.J. It is what my friends call me, and I have a feeling you and I will be great friends.”

I sat on a bench outside Gabby’s apartment, fighting against my need to go back upstairs and force her to hear me out. I knew she was hurting and it was because of me. I had broken her, and I would never forgive myself for it, nor would I forget the hurt in her eyes. It would haunt me forever.

It wasn’t okay. Nothing about my world was okay right now. I hated my sister for what she had done, I was in love with a man I barely got the chance to see, and I felt like I was losing my fucking mind. I was always on edge, depressed by the things I couldn’t change, and I hated feeling so helpless.

PLEASE NO! Now I'm reminded why I put this book off so long. This scene with the sister may be a deal breaker.

“I just get scared,” he confessed. “I worry that someday you’ll decide I’m not worth waiting for. I worry this case is going to ruin the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
“It is hard, I won’t lie. But I’m not willing to give up on us,” I whispered.

“I’m not sure how you’re doing it, but you’re making me fall for you faster than I ever intended to.” Her words warmed me, and I knew exactly what she was talking about, because I was feeling it too. “Me too, sweetheart. Me too,” I whispered as I once again lowered my lips to hers.

For the first time since I joined the FBI, I want something more than I want the job.” Josh stepped forward and cupped the side of my face. “I want you,” he whispered. “When I took this assignment, I didn’t count on meeting you. And meeting you,” he whispered in an angry tone, “changes everything.”

"I never thought I would have to do the things I’ve had to do tonight. It sickens me & I don’t know if I can carry this out.” He looked so troubled. “I shouldn’t be telling you any of this, but if I don’t get it out, I’m afraid I’m gonna snap at the wrong time. I just dealt with a situation tonight that tested my limits and involved things that made me ill.” He took my hand. “I just needed some help calming down."

Nasty! I knew he was undercover but didn't realize there would be scenes of him ACTUALLY kissing an underage girl forced to be a sex slave and faking sex.
