I’m angry at April for destroying her relationship with Maya. I find it difficult to keep reading sometimes when I am angry at the main character. I also think people use “hating themselves” as an excuse for treating others poorly, and I don’t buy it.

Oh thank god the book is self aware lol about this relationship thing. April said “they knew i’d cut a string if i felt it holding me back”. It’s not recognized as self hatred, it’s recognized as self exaltation.

So far I’m really engaged. I feel a shift in the characters, intentional by the author to demonstrate how power and purpose can change a person so quickly. I enjoy the narration style.

Surprisingly engaging so far. I was quite skeptical given the concept but I am intrigued so far. I enjoy the simplistic prose although the characters feel very millennial lol
