Is a hymn the words or the music? Which, when separated, can still be called by the original hymn's name?

Maybe the people who sing without instruments have a point after all- it does remove the need for this discussion.

Very good so far. Music is so hard to talk about though, for it is often so intimately bound up with a person's feelings, that being objective is nigh on impossible.
