Very interesting read! I know the general information in the book so far but never knew the sheer extent. The details and in depth explanations are fascinating.

It’s interesting to see the parallels of how trees grow like us. They have smooth, thin skin when young, and rugged, gnarled skin as they grow older. However we view that aging as beautiful and graceful as the moss creeps over their cracks and the bark becomes more textures. I think it’s ironic that the fungi, that functions so symbiotically, eventually is what penetrates the fissures in its bark, growing semi-circles over the bark until eventually the tree dies. Symbiotic until inconvenient, apparently.
