So, narrator went on a long run about spirituality and Catholicism re: a higher power in the main character's attempts at sobriety. And as a bisexual/androgynous cradle Catholic who actually got all my bells and whistles, I guess the author didn't? and said 'my parents were Catholic, I wasn't, that's all the research I need, no further questions'? They're referencing things they don't understand at all.
