Ida C. Craddock was a quite interesting woman and this was a good biography. She wrote a pamphlet defending the belly dancing at the Chicago World's Fair of 1893 which aroused the interest of anti-smut crusader and Postal Inspector Comstock. He hounded her to death, at one point she was defended by famous lawyer Clarence Darrow who wanted to plead insanity because she claimed to have an angelic spouse named Soph.
